A full adder is needed for the addition of bits in each stage of addition except the addition of least significant digits on the other hand two half adders are needed to complete a full adder. It follows the rule that the addition of two n-bit numbers will require 2 * m -1 number of half adder and m-1 numbers of OR gates.
